THE INN AT ORMSBY HILL
Truly remarkable about the Inn at Ormsby Hill is the rich history of its location spanning more than 250 years. Beginning in the late 1800’s, this was the spectacular summer home of the Isham family. They entertained a house full of friends and relatives every summer. Subsequently, it served as a home for New York City youth. Eventually, it became an iconic Bed and Breakfast, one of Vermont’s best. Over all these years and to this day, Ormsby Hill is still a place of rest, renewal, and celebration. The property has born witness to our country’s entire history. Its reassuring walls embrace guests with beauty and timeless elegance. It is an honor for innkeepers who have the privilege of stewarding this magnificent property.
Currently, under the attentive direction of Jack and MaryAnn Orlando, Ormsby Hill is a luxury bed and breakfast inn featuring ten character filled guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms that specifically cater to the upscale, romantic getaway market. The inn offers a very high caliber guest experience with its gourmet breakfasts, in room fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs, beautiful furnishings, historic grandeur, and spectacular setting. The property expanded to the ten- room inn we see today in 1995. Given its rich history, it is not surprising that the Inn at Ormsby Hill continues to be rated as a top Bed and Breakfast Inn in Manchester, a key Southern Vermont tourist destination. In 2021 the inn’s business reached new all-time highs in occupancy and revenues that are being replicated and improved upon yet again in 2022.
At some point in time, the post and beam owners quarters were moved from elsewhere in Manchester and added to the original mansion at Ormsby Hill. This space has served as a lovely owner’s suite ever since. It includes a spacious living room with vaulted ceilings, a wood burning fireplace with its Inglenook, a large covered porch, a bedroom, bathroom, and office. Wood floors and original post and beam architecture give this space oodles of character and charm. It is accessible to the inn yet private and luxurious so that the innkeepers enjoy the same sense of luxury that their guests do.
The inn has a twenty-four seat restaurant license and a license to sell beer and wine to guests
