The Hearthside Group is proud to announce the sale of the Hostel Tevere in Warren, VT.  Sarah and Giles Smith were the sellers represented by Tim Piper at the Hearthside Group.

The buyer, Ryan Donnelly, hails from Cary, NC.  He and his father Richard purchased the property and it is Ryan’s intent to continue the tradition of running this popular Hostel in the Mad River Valley.  After a few weeks of refit, both the bar and dining room will be reopened for the public. Congratulations to all.

The Inn on the Green, Middlebury

We are so very pleased once again to have had the opportunity to work with Brenda and Bruce Grove and to represent them in selling their inn.   A little over ten years ago, Gary met with the Grove’s and assisted them in purchasing the property,  and what a great journey it has been for them!

This wonderful inn’s history now continues under the new ownership of Chelsea and Chris Griggs.  We could not be happier for all four of these amazing people…the inn is in very good hands!

Plate, A California Inspired Restaurant, Stowe

Founded in 2013 by Stowe restaurateurs, Mark Rosman and Jamie Perskie, Plate has sold to its original Chef, the very talented Aaron Martin.  He and his wife, Jennifer, intend to continue on with the restaurant’s successful concept of “California Inspired, Vermont Made”.  Mark and Jamie will take some time off before deciding what their next adventure will be.  Plate enjoys a wonderful location in the heart of Stowe and a welcoming energetic vibe.  Best of luck to the Martin family as they discover the joy of business ownership.  Wendy Beach happily represented Mark Rosman and Jamie Perskie for the second time, having sold their first restaurant, Jamie’s  on Main, also located in Stowe

Gables Inn, Stowe, Right on the Mountain Road

The Gables Inn & Restaurant, Stowe

Randy Stern and his wife Annette Monachelli purchased the Gables Inn from Sol and Lynn Baumrind through Gary Gosselin and the Hearthside Group in September 1999.  They carried on the fine tradition of comfortable rooms, hearty breakfasts, and Stowe Hospitality for many years.  When Annette passed away in 2013, Randy continued on until 2018 when the inn was sold. Gary assisted Randy during the sales process and our Group has been honored and delighted to play a small part in the history of the Inn. The Gables will always be known for the innkeeper’s love of the property,  their dedication to the hospitality business and serving all of their guests.

Stowe Sandwich Company

We are pleased to announce that the Stowe Sandwich Company has been sold.   Rosalind and Don Moffett purchased the business from Lorri and Alan Handwerger in August 2018.   The Stowe Sandwich Company is a 900 square foot retail sandwich/soup/salad shop with seating both inside and outside.   The shop introduces both locals and tourists to the rich assortment of handcrafted hot and cold sandwiches, homemade soups and more.  Established in 2016, we wish the Moffett’s much success with their new enterprise!

Jackson House Inn, Woodstock

The Jackson House Inn has sold to James Steward of Blue Hill Properties.  This was a very special match made between buyer and sellers by Wendy Beach without the inn ever making its way to the real estate marketplace.  Brokerage is at times about strong relationships, and this transaction was a perfect example.  Kathy and Rick Terwelp, innkeepers for the past nine years at the Jackson House, built a stellar reputation and an outstanding business on the premise that perfection will bring guests back.  Their over the top curated breakfasts, sumptuous accommodations, personal attention to every detail, and spectacular landscaped grounds leave guests feeling pampered, as though they have been somewhere extraordinary.  For this they have received many accolades, a four diamond rating among them.  James Steward’s background in fine art will bring an element of design and programming to the inn  that will enhance and deepen the inn’s reputation.

The Mountain Meadows Lodge, Killington

After many years of raising a family and building an impressive wedding and retreat business at Mountain Meadows Lodge, Bill and Anne Mercier have sold their inn to Woodstock Hoteliers, Elinko, LLC who also own and operate the Inn on the River in Woodstock.  Elinko owns several resort properties worldwide, and Mountain Meadows is the latest addition to their holdings.  Mountain Meadows is a seventeen room inn that has catered to weddings, groups, and retreats at its spectacular location overlooking Kent Pond in Killington.  Wendy Beach represented Bill and Anne Mercier throughout this transition.
