The Old Stagecoach Inn is a historic 12 room bed and breakfast inn conveniently located in the heart of Waterbury Village. Formerly a tavern, stagecoach stop, and private residence, it is currently listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
This property enjoys one of the highest occupancy rates that we have seen. For the first time in 26 years, the property is available for purchase.
We are confident that for any serious inn buyer, this inn is a must-see!
With an in-town location, the inn is situated on 1.28 acres of land. Enjoy a drink in the cozy library bar on-site or walk to one of the many local restaurants and shops where guests can enjoy a leisurely dinner or visit a local brewpub. Stowe, Montpelier, the Mad River Valley, and Burlington are just a short drive away. Four major ski areas are all located a short drive from the inn: Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River and Bolton Valley.
The Old Stagecoach Inn has three floors. On the first floor, there is a large fireplaced parlor with original antiques, sofas, and easy chairs. Guests will also find the dining room and library bar on the main level. The second and third floors, where the guest rooms are located, there are 8 uniquely different rooms, and 4 more suites with TV, Cable, eat-in kitchen alcoves and private baths. The outside decks are utilized in the warmer months for breakfast service.
Built in 1826, it is now Waterbury’s most well-known historic Inn. In 1890, the Old Stagecoach Inn underwent its first character structural transformation “from New England Federal to Victorian, an aspect that was meticulously restored over a two year period and opened again in 1987 as an example of country elegance, which can be seen in great detail in its elegant parlor or in the cozy library bar.
The inn operated from 1987 to 1992. The current owner purchased the inn in 1993 and has succeeded in operating a very successful business with an enviable occupancy rate and reviews.
There is a large area of land (see photo gallery in the E-Brochure) in the back of the inn that has the potential for future growth.
