Wendy graduated from Middlebury College in 1986 with a keen interest in languages, travel, and tourism. Between 1986 and 1994, she gained experience in the hospitality industry working in the resort business with a focus on sales and marketing. This work experience was an ideal entre into the field of hospitality business brokerage as she gained first hand experience in operations, food and beverage, sales, and marketing.
In 1993, she married her husband Bob, who owns and operates Basin Harbor Club with his sister. Basin Harbor is a historic, family run resort with 140 rooms on Lake Champlain. Through Basin Harbor, Wendy remains connected to the challenges and benefits associated with running a hospitality business in Vermont.
Since 1994, Wendy has been in the real estate business and in 1998, she started the Hearthside Group with partner, Gary Gosselin. Through the years, Wendy has acquired the experience and the knowledge to facilitate and close all types of hospitality transactions. Most recently, Wendy has expanded her business and successfully represented a few select residential properties at or near Basin Harbor.
In 2008, Wendy graduated from the Vermont Leadership Program sponsored by the Selling Institute. The insight gained into the workings of many Vermont entities and issues was invaluable.
Volunteer work over the years has included board positions at Elderly Services, an adult day care center in Middlebury, the Ferrisburgh Central School, and most recently the State of Vermont as an appointed commissioner on Vermont’s Real Estate Commission.
Wendy and Bob have two children and live at Basin Harbor. Their dogs Piper and Rosie are well loved by all who visit Basin Harbor.
As a licensed broker in Vermont and New Hampshire, and with over 25 years hospitality business brokerage experience, Gary has been involved in the sale of scores of hospitality properties ranging in size from small B&B’s, restaurants and large full service country inns valued in the millions of dollars.
Gary’s background and experience include owning a bed and breakfast inn in Vermont for 12 years and over 30 years experience in the management of clubs, hotels and restaurants. He has been involved with large national corporate chains in Washington D.C. and Los Angeles, and exclusive private clubs and restaurants in Connecticut.
Gary has a degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University. He has attended and spoken at numerous seminars sponsored by the National Restaurant Association, Vermont Lodging & Restaurant Association and the Professional Association of Innkeepers International. He is a member of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen.
Gary has two sons and lives in Alton, New Hampshire near Lake Winnipesaukee with his wife Gayle and their two black labs: Sadie and Winni.
